1. Introduction
Bytylab: AI Virtual Try On ("we", "us", "our") is a Shopify application that allows online shoppers to visualize products on their own photos using AI-powered virtual try-on technology. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect personal information when you use our application.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Photos you upload: Images you upload or capture using your device camera for the purpose of generating virtual try-on results.
- Generated images: The AI-generated try-on images produced from your uploaded photos combined with product images.
- Device identifiers: A randomly generated anonymous identifier stored in your browser to associate your uploads with your session. If you are a logged-in customer, your Shopify customer ID may also be used.
- Usage data: Information about how you interact with the try-on feature, including products tried on, sharing activity, and add-to-cart actions.
- Store information: We collect the Shopify store domain and configuration settings provided by the merchant who installed the app.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- Virtual try-on generation: Your uploaded photos are sent to our AI service (Google Vertex AI) to generate realistic try-on visualizations.
- Image storage: Your uploaded photos and generated images are stored securely so you can access them across sessions and devices.
- Social sharing: If you choose to share a try-on result, we create a shareable link with the generated image for social media previews.
- Analytics: We provide merchants with aggregated, anonymized analytics about try-on usage, such as total generations, popular products, and conversion metrics. Individual customer photos are never shared with merchants.
- Service improvement: Usage patterns help us improve the quality and performance of the try-on experience.
4. AI Processing
Your uploaded photos are processed by Google Vertex AI (Gemini) to generate virtual try-on images. We send only the minimum data necessary for image generation. Your photos are not used to train AI models. Google processes images according to their own privacy policy and data processing terms.
5. Data Storage and Security
- Uploaded photos and generated images are stored in Amazon Web Services (AWS) S3 with encryption at rest and in transit (TLS).
- Application data (usage records, settings) is stored in a secure PostgreSQL database.
- We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction.
- Shared images are accessible via unique, unguessable links. Only people with the link can view a shared try-on image.
6. Data Retention
- Guest Users: Uploaded photos and generated images are automatically deleted after 48 hours.
- Logged-In Users: Uploaded photos and generated images are automatically deleted after 7 days of inactivity.
- Analytics Data: All anonymized generation records are securely deleted after 1 year.
- You retain the ability to manually delete your uploaded photos or shared images at any time through the privacy controls in the try-on interface before these automated timelines occur.
7. Your Rights and Controls
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- View your data: You can see all photos you have uploaded and images you have shared through the try-on interface.
- Delete your photos: You can delete any uploaded photo at any time. Deleting a photo also removes all try-on generations created from it.
- Delete shared images: You can remove any shared try-on image, which will make the share link inactive.
- Data portability: You can download your generated try-on images directly from the interface.
- Request full deletion: Contact us at support@bytylab.com to request complete deletion of all data associated with your account.

11. International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed and stored in data centers located outside your country of residence. We ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
